Ozark Nature Series

  • Ozark Beer Company 109 North Arkansas Street Rogers, AR, 72756 United States (map)

The Ozarks are home to winding rivers, rocky hills, high bluffs, vast forests, flourishing meadows, and a variety of flora and fauna. With such a wide range of nature to enjoy, we want to bring parts of it into the taproom!

To kick off our nature series, Melissa Jean “The Mushroom Queen” and Kelly Hock from Good Naturing are giving an in-depth dive into the world of foraging edible mushrooms and plants in the Ozarks!

Both Kelly and Melissa have a decorative background in foraging in the Ozarks.

Kelly owns Good Naturing, is a Certified Foraging Instructor, a Herbalist, a Missouri Master Naturalist, a member of the Missouri Mycological Society & Springfield Area Herb Society, and a primitive outdoor enthusiast!

Melissa is a fourth-generation settler & lifelong resident of McDonald County with a love for local history and natural resources. She is locally known as “Melissa Jean the Mushroom Queen” and has been featured in several publications for her mad morel mushroom hunting skills. She is the co-owner of The Ridge Ranch Glampground in Pineville, Missouri where she also owns and operates her part-time business — Sugar Creek Kayak Bass Fishing Guide & Shuttle Service.

Swing by the taproom on April 18th from 6 - 7 to learn more about morel mushrooms, edible plants, and foraging tips and tricks! This event is free, family-friendly, and open for anyone to enjoy.

If you enjoy this class, you can learn more with Melissa and Kelly at one of their foraging classes at The Ridge Ranch in Pineville, MO.
